5 UCAS Choices – Which One is for You?

Hello, my name is Morel Benard, and I represent Study Coach www.studycoach.uk.com If you have deliberated long and hard and finally decided to take the plunge and apply to University, then congratulations are in order. Firstly, please note that if you did apply previously through UCAS, but had a change of mind and did not go through with the application, then you will need to submit a new application. Please ensure that only one application is submitted, since it is my understanding that UCAS will not refund fees paid for any additional application. I’m sure that your college will provide you with a support service in order to complete the application form, however given my work experience in Further Education, I know that students usually need added support, hence the reason for writing this blog. UCAS of course, also provide help with the application process https://www.ucas.com/ Please don’t ask someone else to write the Statement for you, there is a difference between supporting you and using a service to write the Statement for you.

The APPLICATION FORM

I hope that the form won’t appear too daunting, if you find it a bit complicated, just remember that it does not have to be completed in one go, so manage your time well and plan in advance what you want to say, particularly in view of why you want to study your chosen course. The first section of the application form requires you to provide personal details, this is quite straightforward. Do however take care to ensure that your first name, middle name and last name is spelt exactly as stated on your identity documents (passport, birth certificate). Oh by the way, if you’re wondering about the buzz word, your college will provide you with the details.

5 CHOICES

The choice is yours and you have 5 to select from. Do note that universities and colleges won’t see where else you’ve applied to until you have accepted an offer. Making your choice is a personal matter. I know that mature students who are living in London and have parental responsibilities prefer to choose universities within their locality. However, if you’re able to travel, then be brave and opt to study outside of London. If you’re staying in London and have chosen to study Social Work, the chances are that you will be heading to London Metropolitan University https://www.londonmet.ac.uk/  or Middlesex University https://www.mdx.ac.uk/  or perhaps going a little more afield to Anglia Ruskin https://www.uea.ac.uk/

Nursing and Midwifery are also offered at Middlesex and Anglia Ruskin University, but as far as I know nursing is not offered at London Metropolitan. You do however have Kings College, Southbank, City and also East London University to choose from, if you opt to study Nursing/Midwifery in London. If you can travel a little further afield there is Bucks New University, yes it is in Buckinghamshire https://bucks.ac.uk/home

RESEARCH and ASK QUESTIONS

I am a firm believer in asking questions, I would therefore advise you to search for information on your chosen universities, if you can visit the universities then do so and ask questions. Find out about placements, you might find that though the university is far from your place of residence, the work placements might be quite close to where you live. You will be spending many hours at placement, so you should bear this in mind. If you don’t ask, you won’t know, so start asking.
