Story:
The storm raged and a mighty wind began to blow and the poor girl was tossed about helplessly on the waves, until at length the wind died down, the waves became still, but at this point the girl now worn out by the violence of the storm, felt weak and found herself sinking beneath the waters. Will she be saved and who will save her? Perhaps the ruler of the skies or the ruler of the sea will come to her rescue.
Mythical Stories
Mythical stories can transport us back to our childhood, if you have an interest in creating stories, then why not create some myths. You could recall stories about the great Serpent Eagle who would always hover above the fishermen and aid them in times of trouble when out at sea. The fishermen would always ensure that some of their catch would be offered to the Eagle.
Storytelling
Stories about the Serpent Eagle and other mythical stories have passed down through the ages, stories have been adapted, embellished, but yet they live on. The story might be about Anancy, the cunning spider or it might be about the rice-bird. Depending on culture, even the youngest child knows how the rice-bird came about, and why an Igorot never harms O-wug, the snake. Today, people who love stories are gathering these tales in the hope of protecting the tales from being further watered down. In some cases oral stories are for the first time being put into print. In some schools native college students have joined in a movement to preserve the traditions of their people and tribal stories are being put into written form, in this way the stories are being preserved. Most of these are not beliefs that are past, but beliefs about the past—a distinction noteworthy to the student of myths. Little children of all races are naturally in a myth age, and many of their imaginings are as beautiful as those of the old Greeks, and, if made known, would be a contribution to literature.
