University Application UCAS 2019 www.studycoach.uk.com
The deadline for University application 2019 via UCAS is nigh, you only have a few more days to submit the application to your tutor or to your referee. The deadline applies to the majority of undergraduate courses, including most conservatoire dance, drama or musical theatre courses – See UCAS for further information. No doubt you would like to give yourself the best chance to secure a university place, so don’t delay, complete and submit the application. Don’t forget to organise the fee in advance and check methods of payment.
If you have been procrastinating about the application, then you really need to decide if university in 2019 is the best choice for you. If the answer is yes, then I will repeat my message made some months ago. Firstly, you should give careful consideration to the degree you want to study. An important question to ask yourself is: What career will I apply for after completing University? Deciding to take up a university place is a big commitment, you really don’t want to spend 3 years studying a subject only to find at the end of your journey, that you don’t want to apply the degree in the real world. In other words, you find that you will struggle to find employment with the degree or it will not help you to set-up your enterprise. Therefore, you must choose carefully. Consider the future and any social and economic trends when making your decision of what to study. Please note that I’m not suggesting that you should simply choose a subject based on the promise of good financial returns; you need to start with having an interest in the subject. If you have little interest in your studies you won’t last the course and it will all be a waste of time. If it’s your intention to set-up a business, you could choose to apply for a direct course of studies in business and check if the degree or college programme provides a placement, or a day release, this could prove valuable in view of getting hands on experience and networking.
When completing the UCAS application you need to ensure that it truly represents your potential. Don’t take the risk of sending off the form to UCAS only to then reflect and find that you have forgotten to include something of significance. When writing in haste to meet a deadline we are more likely to make mistakes and sometimes forget to include important things, so bear this in mind. Try and slow down within the given time and reflect on what you’ve written before submitting the application. It goes without saying that you will need to articulate yourself fluently in writing, a good standard of writing will act as a sample to your tutors of what is to come. When completing the application form ensure that you demonstrate passion for your chosen course of studies, show readers that you are motivated and that you possess the required skills to succeed at higher education.
If you’re still unsure about applying for a place at university, why not consider taking an apprenticeship route, there are numbers of opportunities available both for vocational and academic subjects.
